The plant that started it all. This biennial native sunflower was the first native plant I grew with seeds bought from Theodore Payne Foundation. I shared extras with neighbors and folks wanted more to give as gifts and to put in other places in their garden. It gets quite large and it keeps the birds and pollinators happy for a year and a half or so with flowers and seed, until you will need another. It does self sow as the birds love to eat the seeds (it is a living bird feeder) and they fling them around.
